Community Matters: How Green Earth Stays Involved Locally

A big part of what we do at Green Earth happens outside the jobsite.

Over the past few months, our team has had the chance to be involved in a few local initiatives across Citrus County. These are the kinds of opportunities we value that allow us to show up, help where we can, and stay connected to the communities around us.

One recent effort included participation in the 39th Annual Floral City Strawberry Festival, a long-standing local event that brings the community together each year. Through Leadership Citrus, a Citrus County Chamber Committee, Rick Wilson and wife Jessica volunteered at the entrance gates, helping welcome attendees and contributing to the day’s success. It was a hands-on way to support a local tradition and spend time with the community while also getting some great produce as a bonus.

Green Earth also supported the 10th Annual Sodium Fishing Gear Tournament, an event that benefited the Book, Line, & Thinkers Program which is part of the Citrus County Education Foundation. This program offers 5th grade students an outdoor learning experience that connects classroom lessons to real-world environments. Students take part in guided fishing trips with local charter captains in Crystal River and Homosassa, where they observe wildlife, learn about local ecosystems, and get involved in activities like pulling crab traps and practicing fishing skills. The experience continues on land through interactive stations that cover topics such as the water cycle, weathering and erosion, and local restoration efforts.

By bringing these lessons outside the classroom, the program helps students better understand what they’re learning while creating experiences they’ll remember. Rick Wilson had the opportunity to connect with students during the event, highlighting the value of programs that bring learning into real-world settings.

Each of these efforts reflects something important to Green Earth. We believe in being present and contributing where it makes sense, whether that’s through volunteering time or supporting programs that benefit the next generation. At Green Earth, Building Meaningful Relationships includes the communities we’re part of. These moments matter, and we’re glad to be involved.
