28 May Built In: How Safety Shapes Every Project at Green Earth | Part 2
Safety by Design – How Leadership, Training, and Culture Protect Our Teams
While daily Toolbox Talks help crews prepare for the work ahead, safety at Green Earth extends far beyond the start of the workday. It is reinforced through leadership, ongoing training, and a shared sense of responsibility across every project team.
Leadership plays a key role in maintaining safe jobsites. Supervisors and managers regularly perform safety walks throughout the project to observe conditions, review procedures, and speak directly with crews about potential concerns. These visits provide an opportunity to reinforce good practices and identify issues before they become problems.
Green Earth’s Safety Lead plays an important role in supporting this effort. Working across projects, the Safety Lead helps ensure that company standards are consistently applied, supports teams in maintaining compliance, and follows up on safety discussions from the field. This additional layer of oversight helps connect day-to-day jobsite practices with the broader safety goals of the organization. Training is another important part of this process. Green Earth team members participate in ongoing safety instruction that includes OSHA certification, CPR and AED training, and specialized instruction related to their specific trades. Each project also provides lessons that help strengthen safety practices for the future.
Continuous improvement remains an important part of the company’s approach. When teams review what worked well and what could be improved, safety procedures evolve alongside the projects themselves.
Green Earth also views safety as a shared responsibility among everyone involved in a project. Management teams, field crews, subcontractors, and partners all contribute to maintaining safe conditions on site. Open communication and mutual respect allow teams to coordinate effectively and respond quickly when concerns arise.
At the center of this approach is a simple principle: people come first. A strong safety culture is built on the understanding that every team member plays a role in protecting their coworkers. Looking out for one another is not just encouraged. It is expected.
For Green Earth, safety is not limited to meetings or documentation. It is built into the way projects are planned, managed, and executed each day.
This commitment supports the company’s broader philosophy of Building Meaningful Relationships. When teams trust that their safety is valued, collaboration improves and projects move forward with greater confidence. The goal remains clear on every Green Earth jobsite: complete the work successfully while ensuring that every person returns home safely at the end of the day.
