Green Earth Commercial Contracting was proud to take part in a recent Leadership Citrus Public Safety Day, where participants had the opportunity to engage directly with local agencies serving Citrus County.

As part of the program, Green Earth President Rickey Wilson and his wife joined fellow Leadership Citrus members for a full day of activities that began at the Citrus County Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The morning included presentations and walkthroughs with the Sheriff’s Office, covering areas such as criminal investigations, communications, emergency management, and the training division. Attendees also observed demonstrations from specialized teams, including the bomb squad, SWAT, and K9 units.

The day continued at the Citrus County Fire Training Center, where participants learned more about fire rescue services, toured the training facility, and observed live demonstrations of apparatus, rescue equipment, and fire and EMS exercises.

The experience offered a clear look at the level of coordination, preparation, and ongoing training required to support public safety across the county. It also highlighted the strong leadership and commitment behind these efforts.

Rickey shared his perspective on the experience:

“I was impressed with the leadership and forward thinking of these two agencies, community involvement, and constant training to support the residents of Citrus County. They wouldn’t let me shoot any live rounds with the taser, but I did get to use the VR headset and take down a few zombies.”

Moments like these reinforce the value of programs such as Leadership Citrus, which connect local professionals with the organizations that help keep the community running safely and effectively.
